Term 4
Can you match the below baby photos with the Ferns teachers of today? Growing is one change that we all face. How well do you cope with getting older each year? How well do your children handle each birthday?
This Term we are looking at every day changes and how we adapt to them. What changes do you face daily / weekly? What changes do our children face and how to they cope with these changes?
Duffy Role Model Assembly

Beatrix Potter
On Friday, Week 1 all the Ferns went to see the Tales of Beatrix Potter.
For some of us it was the first time we had been to a ballet and it was amazing. The dancers were funny and they made us laugh!
Term 3
What colours do you feel?
This term we are looking at colours and how different colours make us feel.
Take a look at our first day of school!
Matariki
We have been learning about Matariki. On Friday we had a special Matariki assembly. Room 12 and their Buddy class shared some of their Pepeha. Room 11 and their buddy class, Room 2 hosted the assembly and they did a play retellingthe Matariki story of how the seven baby fish were caught by the god Tataraimaka in his fishing net. They cried and cried and their tears made the water salty. Tane heard their cries and saved them by throwing the net up into the heavens where the fish transformed in the seven stars of Matariki.
A Sunny week in Te Tipu Ora
Week 5 of term two and the autumn sun has been shining so we have been making the most of our outside investigation areas over this past week. So much learning has been happening- tinkering with an old organ finding out how it works ( that's technology), playing imaginary worlds with the dinosaurs ( drama), finding out about erosion and water flow in the sandpit ( that's science), and moving our bodies in different ways ( Health and physical education). And that's just a tiny snapshot of what we have been doing- as well as going off in small groups to do reading and writing and maths with our teachers.

Obstacle Course
Every day in Te Tipu Ora we practice foundation skills to help our learning.
Look at all the skills we developed when Mr O’H created an obstacle course for us by recycling lots of loose parts:
frog jumps, commando crawling on our stomachs, balancing and crawling.
These activities all help develop our vestibular systems which helps our emotional and muscular development as well as helping us learn and concentrate.
We really challenged ourselves and it was so much fun that we didn’t want to stop!
